~ Sunflower Seeds ~

~ This is a picture taken by my dear friend Tammy Copenhaver September 2009 ~ Tammy really captured such a beautiful shot. What a blessing to see this creation.. This sunflower looks so full of life !

Sunflower seeds are one of the most popular and economical seeds which you can add to your raw food meals and snacks. I eat them just about every day on my salads and in my raw breads and crackers. They go well in nut pate's and just on their own . I make a little snack for my son that looks similar to a flower. It has sunflower seeds in the center and for it's petals I use cucumber slices with a dash real salt ....

~ Health Benefits of sunflower seeds ~

Increase your salad’s health factor with a handful of sunflower seeds! (:

Sunflower seeds are naturally rich in folate and antioxidant Vitamin E. They are also packed with mono- and poly-unsaturated fats which help keep the bad cholesterol away. They are high in selenium and copper, which, together with Vit. E, prevent cellular damage that may lead to cancer, heart disease and other health problems. Lastly sunflower seeds are rich in magnesium.

Magnesium aids in the absorption of calcium, therefore it benefits those who suffer with or who are at risk of osteoporosis. It helps proper muscle function by keeping the muscles relaxed. It can be very beneficial for those who suffer with fibromyalgia. Magnesium helps the rhythm of the heart and assists in maintaining healthy blood pressure levels. It can significantly lower your chances of heart attack and strokes.
